The Australian arm of Palmaira Sandals has recently relocated from director Gemma Taylor's garage to a new warehouse in Sydney.
The move signals that the growth of the business is not slowing down from its lightning bolt moment – a viral 'like and share' Facebook campaign.
The warehouse is stacked with boxes and also features photo shoot lights and backdrops.
The other half of the directive team, Jenny Sewell commented: “[The move has] been a huge positive for us girls and the business. The energy has been amazing, we are loving having a ‘proper work space’ – it’s a great place to get creative!
It has been much more efficient for the logistics side of the business [in terms of] the packing and housing [the] sandals. We have the space to be able to hold much more stock and have even got a studio/photography area.”
Despite the growth, the team is still only made up of four people, however plans are in the works to expand.
“We are currently looking for a customer care and warehouse co-ordinator to join our Palmaira family.
We now have the physical room to bring more people on however we are very conscious of bringing new staff into a very tight team. Culture is a everything to us when we hire [and] this is something top [of] our list,” Sewell said.
The sister's-in-law are looking to the future, now that they have the capacity and space to further the business.
Sewell said of the future: “Moving forward we are focusing on our designs and pushing the boundaries as to what can be done. We are passionate about keeping the Avarca alive!
When we stop to take a moment, we do pinch ourselves at how far the business has come! We have doubled year on year and are extremely excited for the future.”
