Wittner has taken an actionable step towards further educating its team about Aboriginal culture, teaming up with Culture is Life.
Culture is Life will work with Wittner to provide cultural training across its head office and store network, helping the brand to learn about the history of the areas it operates, providing the information to appropriately Acknowledge Country.
Culture is Life is a not-for-profit organisation that works to inspire change by supporting projects and programs that are anchored in cultural activities and expression.
Led by CEO Belinda Duarte, Culture is Life backs Aboriginal-led solutions that deepen connection to culture and country, working to address the prevalent issues that face First Nations peoples and build awareness amongst the broader community to reframe the relationships non-Aboriginal people have with Australia’s First Peoples.
Speaking on the partnership, Wittner said the team is excited to learn more about the land they work on.
"Wittner was founded in Australia over 100 years ago, so we understand the importance of educating ourselves about what it means to be Australian.
"That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Culture is Life, an Aboriginal-led, not-for-profit organisation that will be assisting us with our cultural education.
"The Wittner teams are eager to embrace this education and share it with the wider community.
"Each store will have thoughtfully designed signage, unique to its location, to display our Acknowledgement of Country and encourage others to learn about the cultural heritage of their local area.
"We are proud and privileged to work with Culture is Life and help support their cause," the business said.
Wittner operates 54 standalone stores and outlets and has 28 concessions in David Jones.
