Skechers has announced a partnership with Guide Dogs Australia to support its Pawgust campaign which encourages Australians to walk their dogs for 30 minutes a day for 30 days.
In support of the campaign, Skechers is also launching its latest walking shoe, the Gowalk 5, which is the latest update to the Gowalk line since 2017.
Skechers' support of the campaign comes off the back of a recent survery of Australian dog owners which found that 13% of Aussie dog owners don't walk their dog at all, while 33% said that their dog only gets walked twice a week or less.
Skechers Australia spokesperson Deena Colman said the business is thrilled to have found a cause that fits perfectly with Skechers' committment to walking footwear.
"Regular walking exercise is vital for both a human’s and dog’s mental health and wellbeing.
"We want to see all Australians walking their best mate throughout August and are excited to hear that this year’s Pawgust campaign will see more than 10,000 Australians sign up to pledge their commitment to a consistent daily walking routine.
"Walking shoes and walking technology have always been at the heart of the Skechers brand.
"We’ve been global leaders in the walking category for more than 25 years and are very excited to have found a cause that reflects our passion for walking," she said.
The new Gowalk's come in both men's and women's styles in a range of colourways from bright pink to classic black. The shoes are also available in either lace-up or slip-on styles.
Pawgust will kick off with an invite-only event in Sydney where Skechers will officially launch the Gowalk's. A public dog walking and pat-and-chat event in Melbourne will follow on August 10 with Guide Dogs.
The Gowalk 5 will be available in-store and online from August 1 and will retail for $119.99.
