Australian luxury brand, Von-Röutte, has recently opened a pop-up shop in Bondi, after launching a sneaker line in July. This is the first time the brand has had a physical presence, so Imogen Bailey spoke to Von-Röutte designer, Gus Agra, about the concept.
Where about’s in Bondi will the pop-up be located? What factors go into choosing a location for a pop-up?
We are located in Gould Street. The location is now a trendy fashion destination and we thought it would be interesting to test our products within this demographic.
What do you predict the pop-up to look like? What design inspirations inspired the set-up?
We want the brand to be urban and minimal at the same time. It's a unique approach which mixes both styles. [Customers] can expect neon signs, mixed with nice designer chairs and tables. Elements from the street will also be present in the store.
Can you break down the costs of opening up the pop-up?
We mostly invested in furniture as this is our main strategy for the next few years. However, it's also important to consider labour costs.
In our case, our monthly costs are rent, staff costs (wages), transactional fees (POS) [and] branded bags. Our startup costs were furniture, labour, transport (of furniture and products) [and the] window signage.
