Skechers ANZ has thrown its support behind COVID nurses at Melbourne's Northern Health Hospital, donating shoes from its work range to those on the frontline.
The donation forms part of the brand's Skechers Supports Essential Workers campaign, which saw a total of 48 pairs donated to nurses on the COVID ward, worth approximately $7000.
Skechers ANZ head of marketing Daniela Jovanovic said the brand wanted to show its support to the nurses working hard on the frontline of the state's COVID response.
"This is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the workers helping keep our communities safe during these unprecedented times," she said.
COVID Ward Registered Nurse Kaitlin Themistoklis said the donation will allow the team to continue its critical work.
"It feels great to receive the shoes, we really appreciate it.
"Thank you to Skechers for supporting our hard work and thank you for helping us to continue working hard," she said.
Meanwhile, COVID ward clerk Amy Wilson said small signs of appreciation go a long way.
"Thank you for supporting our feet.
"A big thanks to Skechers, we really appreciate it.
"It’s the small things that mean a lot," she said.
Skechers is the latest footwear brand to donate shoes to nurses, with Hush Puppies donating slippers to frontline nurses and doctors in April 2020.
