Australian sisters Natalia and Aleksandra Miletic have launched a new children's footwear label Piccolini.

Combining their education backgrounds in chiropractic and footwear and accessory design, the sisters founded the label mid-pandemic after noticing a gap in the market.

"Through my line of work, I am often asked by parents of young children for recommendations of good quality, supportive shoes," Natalia Miletic said.

"I found it hard to find any that met the criteria of a supportive shoe, at a reasonable price point and practical, let alone ‘cool’ in design," she said.

So, the sisters founded Piccolini, with the aim to create a children's shoe that delivers on practicality, design, comfort and sustainability.

The shoe features Velcro straps for easy wear and removal, as well as a removable insole which is designed to support the child’s foot.

The front of the shoe is wider, to allow room to move and grow, while the sole is made from natural rubber for shock-absorption.

Each pair of Piccolini shoes are designed in Australia and are made from certified organic cotton and coloured with non-toxic dyes.

"We strive to be at the forefront of innovation and sustainability when it comes to our design and manufacturing of our products," the sisters said.

"With many samples designed and trialled, together with finding the right factory and material suppliers which align with our core values, it has been a long road to completion which we are very proud to achieve," they said.

The brand's first launch features four colourways – white, blue, green and pink – which hit the market in early March.

Piccolini shoes are available on the brand's website and via Instagram and retail for $69.95.
