Allbirds, the New Zealand-born B-Corp, sustainable footwear brand, is set to crack into the Chinese market in April.
The brand will make its debut in the Asian market in Shanghai at Taikoo Hui, as well as online on Alibaba's Tmall. It will also have its own website to provide another stream for customers across the country.
Allbirds' co-founder and co-CEO, Tim Brown, said that the launching into the Chinese market had been a business objective since it began.
"Bringing Allbirds to China has been a goal of ours since we launched the brand back in 2016.
"We’re focused on bringing more comfortable, more sustainable footwear to people around the world, and entering China is a huge step in that direction."
Meanwhile, Allbirds' co-CEO and co-founder, Joey Swillinger, said that the innovative retail environment in China fits perfectly with the Allbirds business attitude.
"We’ve already seen incredible enthusiasm from Chinese consumers, especially around our dedication to creating premium, natural materials.
"The market has been a leader in the evolving retail landscape, which makes it a great fit for our brand’s innovative ethos," he said.
Allbirds currently has retail locations in San Francisco, New York and London.
