Sustainable footwear brand, Allbirds, has introduced a new style to its offering, which combines the business' three sustainable materials into one shoe.
The Tree Toppers – a high-top sneaker – is an Allbirds take on a classic style, which incorporates the brand's own tree, wool and sugar cane EVA materials in one sneaker.
Allbirds plans to roll out the sugar cane EVA – called SweetFoam – to all of its shoe's soles and has made the carbon-negative technology available to the entire footwear industry through open-sourcing.
Head of design at Allbirds, Jamie McLellan, said that the Tree Topper is the ideal shoe to highlight the Allbirds aesthetic.
“The Tree Topper is a true representation of our approach to design and sustainability.
“With just the right amount of nothing and comfort as a non-negotiable, the Tree Topper is a playful canvas for showcasing our three hero materials.”
The Tree Toppers launched on the Allbirds Australia website on November 15 and retail for $170.
