What is your previous experience in the industry?
Most recently, I worked as the retail director for L’Occitane in the UK and Ireland and then head of retail for AllSaints Europe before moving to Australia to join the General Pants family.
What is your day to day role?
I oversee retail operations at a store level, working with our teams on the ground and cross-functionally with the departments at head office to deliver the business’s retail strategy.
What is the most rewarding aspect?
Working with such a diverse group of people and the overall culture of the business. Everyone works hard but has fun at the same time.
What is the most challenging aspect?
Maintaining consistency in performance across 50+ locations can be a challenge. It’s a never-ending goal to achieve perfection!
What is an initiative you are most proud of?
Creating development opportunities by introducing business and state manager roles to our stores. These newly created roles now provide growth opportunities for some of our most senior talent. Career progression is part of our retention strategy across the business.
What is the biggest change you have seen in the industry?
Globally, online continues to be a force to be reckoned with and where big growth opportunities lie.
What is the biggest change ahead?
For General Pants – global expansion. This is definitely where the future of the business lies. With two stores opening in the US this year, it will be a great test for our retail, wholesale and online channels.
