Marketing executive Jeremy Taylor has resigned from his lead position at Australian menswear brand YD and taken on the newly created CMO role at fragrance retailer Dusk.
Taylor’s new appointment follows a nearly ten-year career at YD, starting as head of store experience in 2014. He commenced his new role on May 6 this year.
Taylor’s new appointment also follows a similar move by Vlad Yakubson, who left his GM post at YD last year to take on the role of CEO at Dusk. Yakubson began his career at YD in 2015, following other retail leadership roles at Mad Mex, New Vintage Store and Glue Store.
“The last 9.5 years with YD was a huge journey, particularly in the branding space in which we were able to shift the reliance on promotions to drive results to building a brand that stood for on-trend product, diverse and engaging content and world-class store experience, all of which continued to drive positive results year on year in the brand," Taylor said.
“As the demand for engaging brand content continued to change, we defined a content strategy for YD which allowed us to drive growth on our social channels and influenced our new store design where content became key in bringing the brand to life.
“All of these learnings at YD have helped contribute to understanding how to build a brand within the mid-market by creating meaningful experiences and brand loyalty whilst being commercial.
Taylor said the new CMO role comes as Dusk hits 150 stores across Australia and New Zealand.
“The focus as a team will be driving the brand forward by being there for all of the moments that matter to our customer, whether it’s Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Halloween and of course Christmas,” he said. “I can’t wait to work with our CEO Vlad and the team to reaching that goal.”
Taylor's last notable achievement at YD was doubling the brand's out-of-home advertising spend in 2023.
