The Woolmark Company has forged another alliance with an Australian great.

The Woolmark Company has partnered with local surfwear giant Rip Curl to produce a selection of Woolmark-certified Merino wool garments, in collaboration with Australian pro surfer Mick Fanning.

The development follows the successful launch of the MF1 boardshort and the global release of the high-class “Mick Fanning by Rip Curl” clothing range.

Headlining the collection is a Woolmark-certified Merino wool 'wetsuit poncho', designed to be worn as an over garment, which was supplied exclusively to all ASP (surf) world tour competitors.

However, while the poncho remains exclusive to the pros, Rip Curl has created the “MF Ram Series” jacket and fleece which will be available from this month.

Both pieces are made from Merino wool, are Woolmark certified and will be available in Limited Edition quantities at ripcurl.com.

The “MF Ram Series” jacket and fleece have been described as Fanning’s “go to garments” in cool conditions due to the Merino wool which sees the garment remain dry and comfortable in the elements, but also breathable, odour resistant and with temperature regulation qualities.

Commenting on the tie-up, Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) CEO, Stuart McCullough saidMerino wool and Rip Curl are a perfect match.

“When Mick Fanning steps out of the Southern Ocean he has the ideal fibre to put on. The Rip Curl MF Ram Series is soft and warm and will wick moisture away from the body. The Merino, Mick Fanning and Rip Curl is a brilliant partnership and we’re very excited to be involved,” he said.

The Woolmark brand is owned by Australian Wool Innovation (AWI), a not-for-profit company owned by over 27,000 woolgrowers. AWI’s vision is to be a significant contributor to a vibrant, stable and profitable wool industry providing the world with the best natural fibre. The company works throughout the global supply chain – from woolgrowers through to retailers.
