Australian underwear brand Nala has sent a giant inflatable breast down the Yarra River in a bid to challenge censorship concerns.
The brand said it has faced censorship issues across social media platforms since launching in October last year. The activation included the slogan ‘It’s just a boob’ slogan.
Nala uses gender-neutral language across its website and social media platforms, with products for women, men, non-binary and gender-diverse people. The brand also operates an experiential fit guide, where 30 pairs of bare breasts guide users to their size and shape, and offers products based on their choice.
Co-founder Chloe de Winter said the brand is facing high demand since launching four months ago.
“We’re so grateful for that, but you also can’t help but wonder where we would be if we weren’t taking on Silicon Valley?” de Winter asked.
“We know this is something our community and women of Australia want changed. And what better way is there to say “in your face” to big tech, than a giant, unmissable boob in the centre of a bustling city.”
The giant breast was designed by artist Christine Yaha.
