Uniqlo has announced its latest designer collaboration collection, bringing French designer Ines de la Fressange to Australian consumers.
The 70s-inspired collection will be available in full in Uniqlo's Emporium, Chadstone and Mid City stores and online, while other stores will stock select items.
"In keeping with a motif of 'luxurious clothes, and beyond,' this range of wardrobe essentials brings together Ines’ belief in designing clothes that all women can wear with comfort to reveal their beauty," Uniqlo said in a statement.
"[This is alongside] the LifeWear philosophy of providing innovative, high-quality clothing that is universal in design and comfort, and meets the needs of daily lifestyles," Uniqlo said.
The collection features three design motifs throughout; bohemian, neo-bourgeois and mannish styling.
These influences are seen in twist pleated skirts and dresses, 100% silk blouses and wrap dresses and tweed jackets and corduroy pants.
And for the first time, there are items in the collection made with proprietary seamless 3D Knit technology that offers heightened comfort and vivid patterns.
The collection was inspired by several women from the 1970s who de la Fressange has long-admired for symbolising female independence and fashion.
Included in this list is actress, songwriter, and model Jane Birkin and singer-songwriter Françoise Madeleine Hardy.
Reflecting on their influence, de la Fressange said that women in the 70s took fashion to new places.
"Back in the seventies, many women were determined to emancipate themselves from traditions.
"These liberated individuals took fashion and their lives in exciting new directions," she said.
The Uniqlo x Ines de la Fressange collection will be available in Australia from Thursday, February 18.
The first collaboration between the brands launched in 2014.
