International sportswear brand Under Armour (UA) is staging its All Out Mile for the first time in Australia.
Runners can register for free to take part in the five-day competition period of June 1-5 and/or attend the live event at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Global Running Day, June 1.
The initiative has launched in Australia alongside the brand’s new running shoe, UA Flow Velociti Wind 2.
The annual UA challenge is to see how fast participants can run their fastest mile any time during the competition period to vie for prizes.
There will be virtual participation in 14 countries and, to celebrate this year’s Global Running Day, UA will kick off live events in cities across the US, the UK, Thailand, Japan, South Africa, and now Australia.
On registering for All Out Mile, participants gain access to training routines and workouts from UA's coaches, athletes, and human performance experts.
Registration also automatically grants participants access to a free three-month UA MapMyRun MVP membership, where they will be able to log miles and access training plans and video tips.
Sydney will play host to the first Australian UA All Out Mile live event at the SCG on June 1, 5-9m. It is free and open to the public to lay down their fastest mile, as well as enjoy music and entertainment.
Participants’ results will automatically be pulled from UA MapMyRun and appear on the FitRankings leaderboard, where they can see how they stack up against runners from around the world.
Prizes will be awarded to each the top three males and females in participating regions.
Under Armour is also awarding the top teams in the Most Milers competition with a $10,000 donation back to the non-profit organisation of their choice.
All designated charities must have a connection to increasing access and opportunity for all young athletes in support of UA’s Access to Sport initiative.
