Outdoor retailer Mountain Warehouse has opened its first store in Melbourne at the DFO in Moorabbin over the weekend.

It marks the brand’s second Australian store, followed by its offline debut in Brisbane in July.

The new stores are part of an expansion plan and follow seven years of operating a dedicated e-commerce channel in Australia.

The Melbourne store covers 3,990 square feet of trading space and will sell men’s, women’s, and kids’ wear, as well as footwear and equipment.

“We’re delighted to be opening our second store in Australia after the success of our Brisbane shop,” Mountain Warehouse founder and CEO Mark Neale said.

“We know Australians love exploring the great outdoors, so we are excited to bring our passion for adventure and great value gear for all the family here. We also have plans to open two additional locations this year.”

Mountain Warehouse was established in 1997 and has since scaled to operate 371 stores and multiple websites across nine countries.

The expansion also follows continued growth in New Zealand, currently its third-largest market with 24 stores.

The opening of the Moorabbin store has created 12 new jobs in the local area.
