Australian footwear and apparel brand Ugg Express has signed an exclusive partnership with Melbourne-based designer label Verner, contributing to the label’s solo runway at Australian Fashion Week (AFW).
As part of the collaborative deal, the pair customised three different ugg boots and slippers supplied by Sydney-based brand Everau. This drew on Verner's Resort ‘25 collection which featured on the runway.
The designs may soon be available for a limited release, according to the duo.
"Partnering with Verner for Australian Fashion Week is a testament to our commitment to craftsmanship, creativity and supporting other homegrown brands,” Ugg Express marketing director Laura Li said.
“The collection represents a fusion of two iconic Australian brands and styles, and we are so excited to have seen this collaborative vision come to life on the runway."
Verner founder and designer Ingrid Verner said the partnership with Ugg Express was creatively strategic.
“With ugg boots originating in Australia and as a popular style among surfers in the 1960s and 1970s, it has provided a great synergy with the aesthetic of the show,” Verner said. “The collection brings memories of long summers by the sea, salt and sunscreen, with inspiration pulled from suburban homes, contrasting with the dark undertones of beach culture.”
Meanwhile, Everau head of marketing Tina Dong said it was an honour to be part of the partnership.
“Through this design collaboration, Verner and Ugg Express have provided our brand with the opportunity to push beyond creative boundaries and deliver a shoe that will connect with everybody."
Ugg Express and Verner shared the collaboration collection on May 16 at Carriageworks, Redfern during AFW.
