Australian-owned apparel company Total Image Group (TIG) has revealed a new ‘double denim’ uniform for all its local office and warehouse staff, citing a significant reduction in carbon footprint.

The move includes 32 staff in its Sydney office and three in Melbourne.

"As a responsible organisation striving for sustainability in all facets, our 'Double Denim' uniform is not just a stylish choice; it's a stride toward a more sustainable future,” TIG CEO and designer Pamela Jabbour said.

TIG cited research by ThredUp which indicated the new uniform has the potential to reduce an individual’s fashion carbon footprint by up to 77%. This is calculated on a uniform supplied based on five tops, two bottoms, one outerwear and one sweater, washed weekly over a year in cold water, air dried and 100% resold or recycled at end of life.

TIG has sourced its new uniform from a supplier with a supply chain that shares 100% visibility into fabric sources and 95% transparency regarding yarn sources and raw cotton agents.

More than 350,000 workers wear TIG uniforms daily, with clients such as Ford Australia, Bonza Airlines, and the Australian Winter Olympic Team.

TIG is a business-to-business custom-branded uniform design business which launched in 2005, covering a variety of industries. The business also has a 40 year history in textile manufacturing with an office in Qingdao, in the Shandong province of China.
