Global outdoor retailer The North Face has opened its first store in Hobart, Tasmania.

The site is located on Liverpool Street in Hobart CBD and is the tenth concept store for the brand in Australia and New Zealand.

The North Face ANZ GM Paul Karis said the brand is dedicated to setting roots in the Tasmanian outdoor space. He said this includes extending its support to local organisations that aim to protect the outdoors and make them accessible.

“Tasmania is regarded as one of the finest destinations in the world for its extensive wilderness and outdoor activities, Karis said. “We’ve long held the desire to connect directly with its vibrant and engaged outdoor community and the opening of The North Face store in Hobart brings an opportunity to do this.”

Karis said the brand has a number of wholesale retail partners in the state, including Find Your Feet, Paddy Pallin and Anaconda.

“We will complement what they do by bringing a wider assortment of products and some new categories like Snowsports to the market. This will allow us to cater to a broader base of customers, from the more adventurous types getting out for a ski, board, or hike, to those intrepid travellers in need of warm, waterproof gear and luggage.

“Let’s not forget the unsuspecting tourist turning up to discover they haven’t packed enough warm gear for a Tassie Summer.”
