The Iconic has teamed up with the Uluru Dialogue at the Indigenous Law Centre UNSW to launch official merchandise for the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
The partnership forms part of The Iconic's Reconciliation Action Plan, which focuses on a commitment to introduce and embed initiatives throughout its business that contribute toward Australia’s reconciliation with First Nations Peoples.
"We could not be prouder to offer our platform to help champion the incredibly important work being led by the Uluru Dialogue," The Iconic CEO Erica Berchtold said.
"By purchasing and wearing your Uluru tee, not only are you showing your support, you are helping to raise awareness of the Uluru Statement with your family, friends, colleagues and communities," she said.
The Uluru Statement from the Heart is the result of 13 regional dialogues held across Australia with First Nations peoples in 2016 and 2017, culminating in the National Constitutional Convention held at Uluru in May 2017.
The Uluru Statement from the Heart proposes structural reform and calls for a First Nations Voice to Parliament to be protected in the Constitution (Voice), and a Makarrata Commission to supervise a process of agreement-making (Treaties) and truth-telling (Truth).
The front of the tees and the ‘We Support The Uluru Statement' logo was designed by Alice Springs-based artist Elliat Rich, with the IP gifted to the Uluru Dialogue, Indigenous Law Centre UNSW for use in its education campaign.
The back of the t-shirt lists the locations and dates of the regional dialogues that led to the Uluru Statement of the Heart.
UNSW co-chair of the Uluru Dialogue and pro vice chancellor Indigenous, Professor Megan Davis said the t-shirts will drive important conversations and education.
"What’s exciting about this launch is the power it has to drive conversation.
"By wearing the Uluru Statement merch, not only are you accepting the invitation to walk with First Nations and show your support, but you are also educating others who may not be aware of the Statement to learn more.
"A conversation can be life-changing and Australians working together have the power to change the nation," she said.
The Iconic x The Uluru Dialogue tee is available now on The Iconic and retails for $30.
According to The Iconic, the t-shirt is the first of more merchandise to come.
Proceeds from the sales of the tees will go to Uluru Dialogue.
