Target Australia's new store is putting the fun back into retail.

The discount department store will open its newly refurbished Pacific Werribee store on August 27.

The store features a café, digital photo kiosk, in store clothing alteration service, t-shirt printing station, a kid’s play zone, a Happy Lab confectionery area and ‘click and collect’ shopping service.

Victoria State GM Allan Molloy said the new format store is aimed at improving customers' experience.

"We’re thrilled to be opening our doors at Pacific Werribee, the new store not only showcases our exceptional new season ranges, but exciting technological advances that provide an enhanced shopping experience for all our customers," he said.

"Target Werribee marks a new chapter for us with the relocation from Hoppers Crossing, and we’re confident the move will deliver an even better shopping experience to residents. We can confirm that all of our staff will move across to the new location.

"The Hoppers Crossing team members are particularly excited for the unveiling and to begin work in the new state-of-the-art Target store."

Target will be celebrating the opening with a range of family-friendly activations.

These include free face painting, balloon giveaways and coffee as well as a chance to meet Dora The Explorer at 10am.

The first 500 customers who spend $20 or more will also receive a free $10 gift card.

The celebrations will continue throughout the weekend, with a visit from the Minions on August 29, plus balloons and face painting for the kids on Sunday.

The Old Geelong Road store in Hoppers Crossing will close on August 26, with all staff starting at the new Werribee store the following morning.
