Sydney-based eyewear distributor, Proper Goods has welcomed luxury brands Akoni and Balmain to its portfolio.

The business is now responsible for managing market strategies for both brands in Australia and New Zealand.

Swiss label Akoni and French-based Balmain join Proper Goods' stable of independent eyewear labels including Ahlem, Garrett Leight California Optical, L.G.R, Moscot, Mr. Leight and Mykita.

Proper Goods founder and CEO Ben Walters said the business is pleased to add the brands to its offering.

"We’re proud to partner with two of the world’s most in-demand luxury brands, cementing our position as the premier independent eyewear portfolio in Australia and New Zealand.

"The global consumer is more informed than ever and as a result we’re seeing the market steer away from generic licensed products in favour of higher-spec, specialty brands, such as Akoni and Balmain," he said.

Proper Goods will launch the new brands with select fashion doors and premium optical retailers during its upcoming selling cycle in November.

The brands will launch in Australia and New Zealand with their upcoming fall/winter 2021 collections.
