China-based fast fashion retailer Shein has partnered with national charity Thread Together.
As part of the arrangement, the online retailer will donate new clothes, volunteer time and funds.
The move follows a deal with Australian charity Pink Hope in March, where Shein contributed funding to the charity's genetic testing research.
"At Shein, we firmly believe that fashion can bestow dignity upon individuals, irrespective of age, and serve as a catalyst for greater opportunities, including improved job prospects," a Shein spokesperson said.
"Our mission revolves around making the beauty of fashion accessible to all, and our partnership with Thread Together exemplifies our mission in action.”
Thread Together CEO Anthony Chesler welcomed the partnership with Shein.
“Currently, 3.5 million or 13.5% of Australia's population is experiencing hardship, and this number is rapidly increasing due to the cost of living crisis.
“In response to this, Thread Together is working to ease the burden by providing new clothing and is looking forward to working together to support many more people in need across the country."
Founded 11 years ago by Andie Halas, Thread Together collects end-of-line new stock from fashion brands and retailers across Australia, including from Myer, Incu, and Rebecca Vallance.
Last month, the charity opened a new clothing distribution site in Preston, Victoria to the public.
Shein distributes to more than 150 countries.
