Global thrift retailer Savers is planning to open a new boutique-style thrift store in Sydney.

It is believed to be the first of its kind model in Australia.

The new Savers thrift boutique will be located on Oxford Street in Darlinghurst, and comes just three months after the brand's entrance into New South Wales.

The new inner-city offering will stock a selection of one-of-a-kind pre-loved fashion items for value.

“The new store will not only showcase the best in pre-loved fashion but will also strengthen our commitment to sustainability and community impact,” Savers Australia managing director Michael Fisher said.

“At a time when consumers are increasingly conscious of their environmental impact, our new Darlinghurst Boutique on Oxford Street will provide a new and exciting shopping experience. We’re eager to continue our mission of making secondhand shopping a fashionable, sustainable, and accessible option for all.”

According to Savers, the new store will contribute to the over 7.5 million kilograms of textile waste that its 13 existing Australian stores divert from landfill each year. Savers has stores in both Victoria and Adelaide.

“Shopping secondhand can help reduce your environmental impact, by conserving the natural resources that would go into producing a new garment,” Fisher said.

“By extending the life of clothing, our customers can take pride in supporting the planet.”

The US-born thrift retailer made its debut in New South Wales with a new store in Hoxton Park, Prestons in Sydney’s outer west that opened on May 30 this year.

The Hoxton Park store stocks more than 100,000 second-hand items across clothing, accessories, and lifestyle, with a majority of items priced under $10.
