Australian jewellery brand Sarah & Sebastian has opened its first Queensland store in Brisbane CBD, marking the brand’s seventh in Australia.

The new Brisbane store is also the largest in its portfolio, offering its full suite of services including soldered, piercing, fine jewellery, wedding and engagements consultations.

Sarah & Sebastian CEO Amelia Fincher said the opening is in response to customer data insights.

“There has always been significant support from Queensland clients, and the opening of our first Brisbane store is an exciting step for the brand,” Fincher said. “Brisbane has five times the footprint of our first store in Paddington, opened in 2017, which is a testament to our enduring growth in Australia.”

The store was designed by architect George Livissianis, who oversaw Sarah & Sebastian’s store concepts in The Strand and Melbourne City. It is housed in an 1886 heritage-listed building.

Sarah & Sebastian confirmed the space will contrast heritage features such as exposed brick, high ceilings, ornate pressed metal ceiling panels and arched framed windows with contemporary details. This includes mixed materials and finishes, with art deco-inspired interior features such as curved structures and reflective metallics.

The store will utilise natural light and hero a split-level floating display unit in the centre of the store housing the brand’s latest collections.

Speaking on the store design, Sarah & Sebastian co-founder and creative director Sarah Munro said it is an evolution of its core aesthetic.

“We wanted to embrace a lighter colour palette while continuing to use materials synonymous with the Sarah & Sebastian aesthetic, such as stainless steel and mirror surfaces,” Munro said.

Alongside the product assortment, the store also features an interactive piercing display in the main retail area. This includes the brand’s newest service, Ear Alchemy Styling, which are cartilage earrings displayed in a circular display unit.

The brand’s piercing lab is located behind a curved wall, with its interior painted in a duck egg blue colour, and a suspended oculus light. It also features a soldered bar for product personalisation.

At the back of the stare is a private suite for engagement and wedding consultations.

Fellow co-founder Robert Sebastian Grynkofki said the brand’s services portfolio is a growing focus for the business.

“Our mission is to be a pioneer of luxury jewellery-centric services in Australia,” Grynkofki said. “We are so excited to finally offer this, as well as our seasonal and core collections of jewellery, to our Brisbane audience.”

Sarah & Sebastian was founded in 2012 with a focus on local manufacturing. Alongside its made-to-order service, Sarah & Sebastian also operate a repair workshop in a bid to reduce waste.

The brand now operates seven across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, with stockists in both Australia and New Zealand. The brand also sells through luxury etailer Net-A-Porter.
