Gold Coast shopping complex Robina Town Centre has passed $1 billion in annual sales for 2023, joining the likes of Chadstone, Westfield Chermside and Highpoint as one of Australia’s highest-grossing shopping destinations.

Robina Town Centre is owned by QIC, and reportedly draws more than 13 million customers per year. The centre houses over 100 fashion retailers, including homegrown brands Camilla, Country Road, Forever New, Lorna Jane, Seafolly, Sussan and Universal Store.

The highest revenue-raising shopping centre is Chadstone in Melbourne, which reported a $2.66 billion moving annual turnover (MAT) in 2023. This is followed by Westfield Chermside in Queensland at $1.29 billion, Highpoint at $1.26 billion, Bondi Junction at $1.21 billion and Westfield Fountain Gate at $1.2 billion.

Other shopping centres reporting more than $1 billion in sales in 2023 are all under the name of Westfield, including Westfield Miranda, Parramatta, Sydney, Carindale, and Doncaster.

According to leasing manager Byron Hayes, Robina Town Centre has steadily increased its market share this year. Hayes said that significant reinvestment by QIC has boosted sales across a majority of categories.

“Our long-term leasing strategy has seen several retailers significantly expand their footprint, with brands such as Apple and Mecca tripling their floorspace in the past five years,” Hayes said.

“Not only does this signal a desire for these brands to deepen their in-person connection with the Robina audience, but also our shared vision to harness the potential of a community which is growing in both size and spending power.”

Robina Town Centre has over 360 stores, with a majority in the fashion space. This also includes David Jones and Myer, alongside discount department stores Kmart, Big W and Target.
