Review Australia has partnered with toy company Mattel to launch a Barbie fashion collaboration.
The 16-piece capsule collection includes dresses, cardigans and jackets in bright or pastel colours, along with a gold-plated necklace. Prices range from $109.95 - $299.95 for fashion pieces and $34.95 for the necklace.
The collection covers Review’s interpretation of seven Barbie looks across different decades in the fashion brand’s classic fit and flare shape.
Each design is produced from cotton dobby and cotton sateen, in styles such as the Number #1 original Barbie, Suburban Shopper, Roman Holiday and Fashion Luncheon Barbie.
The collection also includes a cardi and dress combo that celebrates the iconic ‘Barbie Pink’ hue as well as a stunning gold-plated necklace.
Review Australia will also release four mini-me pieces designed to match the main collection and valued at $119.95.
“We wanted to create a collaboration that would elevate and celebrate Barbie’s amazing sense of fashion, which remains relevant and chic even after 60 years,” Review GM Clare Hurley said. “Our design team delved into the mid-century era of Barbie, studying archive images of the original Barbie outfits from 1959.
“By sourcing and studying tattered and well-loved Barbie dolls from online resellers, we were able to pay meticulous attention to the details and trims, ensuring our collection stays true to the essence of each outfit.”
The campaign for the Review x Barbie collection is fronted by influencer and content creator Marcia Leone, alongside her daughter Poppy. It was captured by photographer Liane Hurvitz, with the collection sold at select Review and Myer stores as well as Review online.
The Review x Barbie collection will officially launch nationwide on Thursday, June 29th.
“Review and Barbie share a commitment to empowering and celebrating women,” Review Australia GM Clare Hurley said. “We are proud of the collection we have created, and we are excited to share it with our customers who have been eagerly anticipating a Barbie collaboration.”
