Australian sporting retailer Rebel Sport has opened the doors to its newest store in Launceston, Tasmania.

It will be the retailer’s second store in Tasmania.

The York Street store covers 1,862 square metres and will include a ‘Basketball Experience Zone’ that customers can use as part of their shopping experience.

The opening weekend from September 20 included offers on major brands such as Lorna Jane, PE Nation, Adidas, Speedo and Muscle Nation.

In October, Rebel Launceston will host Olympic gold medalist and Speedo athlete Ariarne Titmus.

On the opening day last week, Rebel offered the first 100 rebel active customers in-store a voucher worth between $10 and $500 to be spent in store.

In addition, new Rebel Active loyalty members were given a sign-up bonus – receiving an additional 400 loyalty points, the equivalent of $20 on their next purchase.

Running until September 29, Rebel Active members will also be offered a spend and save offer – receiving $20 off for every $100 spent.

“Tasmania is an important state in our national plans, and we’re excited to be expanding our reach with our new store in Launceston,” Rebel GM for portfolio strategy Ryan Pittaway said.

“We know the power that sport has in building communities, so we’re inviting all residents of ‘Launnie’ to celebrate their new local rebel sport store.”

Alongside the promotional offers, Rebel has also pledged to donate four $500 gift cards to local sporting clubs. Following every purchase, customers will be encouraged to vote for any local sporting club of their choice, which can receive one of the gift cards to invest in sporting equipment.

Rebel is also encouraging its loyalty members to recycle their old footwear, offering members 100 points ($5 credit) for every pair recycled.

Under Super Retail Group, Rebel manages 160 stores across Australia with a team of 6,000 people.
