Australian bootmaker R.M.Williams has established a new store in the United Kingdom, the first to open outside Australia since 2017.

The latest opening is in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, a town 40 kilometres west of London. The new store adds to two London stores in New Bond Street, Mayfair, and Berwick Street, Soho.

Another R.M.Williams store is planned to launch in Cambridge in December in line with the brand’s strategy to target UK towns and cities with a high concentration of consumers who value quality, craft, and timeless heritage.

“The UK has been part of the R.M.Williams story for many decades and we’re thrilled that our next chapter of UK investment is spearheaded by the impressive new Marlow opening,” R.M.Williams CEO Paul Grosmann said.

“Marlow’s heritage and character makes the town an ideal setting for introducing the brand’s handcrafted products to a community which appreciates quality authenticity.”

R.M.Williams has also extended its network of stockists for Autumn/Winter 24 to premium London department stores, Selfridges, Harrods and Liberty. All three stores will carry R.M.Williams men’s boots collection with a focus on the brand’s ‘Craftsman’ styles.

The brand also featured as part of Harrods’ men’s trunk show which ran from October 14-20.

Located at 46 High Street, the 1,700 square feet (157 sqm) Marlow store will feature the bootmaker’s new retail design concept, first introduced at the brand’s global flagship store on Sydney’s George Street last December.

The Marlow store will include new season boots, apparel and accessories, as well as a Marine Blue Comfort Craftsman exclusive to the Marlow store, and the brand’s largest women’s offering in the UK.

R.M.Williams has had a presence in the UK for over three decades with the brand’s first international store opening in Knightsbridge in 1989. As well as current stores in the country, the brand also sells through 90 wholesale partners nationwide.

As part of its UK investment, R.M.Williams also recently appointed Karl Wederell as its UK general manager. Prior to his new role, Wederell worked in senior positions at luxury apothecary brand Aesop.
