Australian fashion brand Okanui has appointed Alison Hamilton as the new head of product.

The new role comes a few months after Hamilton stepped away from her lead role at The Iconic, as the head of women’s mainstream. Hamilton is also the former managing director at Mavi Jeans and spent 17 years shaping the buying team at David Jones.

The brand was born in 1978 on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Founder Dick Ash created the first pair of cotton board shorts using his mom’s sewing machine and old canvas mail bags from the Avalon Post Office.

The brand is known for its distinctive hibiscus print. 

Today, the brand manages both online and across retail, including nine owned stores, as well as a wholesale arm. Its product ranges across men’s, women’s and childrenswear.
