Myer Albury has celebrated its 40th anniversary with a grand reopening of its refurbished store.

The store, which first opened in 1982, has undergone significant renovations and upgrades after Myer and the owners of Myer Centrepoint announced last year a joint agreement to refurbish and upgrade the Myer Albury store, while also committing to a new longer-term lease.

The renovations included the installation of new lighting, flooring, fixtures, improved change rooms and customer amenities, as well as the removal of some existing walls to open up the store.

Myer Albury store manager Chris Boneham said customers have embraced the new store design.

"Our Albury team were so excited to open our fully refurbished store to the community – it looks amazing and the response already from customers has been so positive.

"It really showcases our brands and extensive offering in the best possible way – in a modern, fresh and bright new layout.

"It’s great to officially open the refurbished store which demonstrates our ongoing commitment to our loyal customers and the Albury community," he said.

To officially open the store, Albury City Mayor Cr Kylie King joined Myer’s GM of Victoria Susan Braidwood, store manager Chris Boneham, and 40-year serving Myer Albury team member Brett Harvey in a ceremonial ribbon-cutting event.

To celebrate the store opening, customers were treated to DJ entertainment, birthday cupcakes and cookies, complementary lattes, hot chocolates, chai latte and teas.

In addition to the renovations, the store also welcomed a suite of new brands to its offering including French Connection womenswear and menswear, Forever New, Barbour Menswear, Circa in Emporium, Marcs Handbags, Chloe & Lola and X&Y women's activewear, Shoes & Sox concession and Tommy in kidswear.

Speaking on the opening, long-serving team member Brett Harvey said he was thrilled to showcase the new store to his local community.

"Having been there for the opening in 1982, it was such an honour to cut the ribbon on behalf of the Myer team, to officially open the refurbished store, and to mark 40 years of trade.

"Having worked in every part of the store, and most recently in menswear, I know what this store means to the Albury community, and how much the team here love serving our customers – and it has been great to hear the positive feedback about the refurbished store," he said.

Myer Albury reopened after renovations on April 09 2022.
