United-Kingdom based outdoor retailer Mountain Warehouse will open its first Australian store in Brisbane’s Skygate Shopping Mall in July.
It marks the beginning of an expansion plan to scale further across Australia after operating an e-commerce website here for the past seven years, and joins over 260 stores and multiple websites across nine countries. This includes in New Zealand, which is currently the brand’s third-largest market with 24 stores.
Mountain Warehouse was established in 1997, with a focus on lower price points.
The new store covers 3,000 square feet (~278sqm), and features men’s, women’s and kidswear, as well as footwear and equipment. Its latest ranges cover winter, including ski gear, down jackets, hiking kits and backpacks, as well as Mountain Warehouse’s Animal collections
“We’re thrilled to be opening our first store in Australia,” Mountain Warehouse founder and CEO Mark Neale said.
“We know Australians love exploring the great outdoors, so we are excited to bring our passion for adventure and great value gear for all the family here.
“Our Brisbane store is just the beginning. We have plans to open three additional locations this year.”
The opening of the Brisbane store has created 9 new jobs in the local area.
The retail move into Brisbane follows other retailers opening retail concepts in recent months, including Paspaley and Uniqlo.
