Australian leak-proof brand Modibodi and global sports label Puma have launched a new collection of leak-proof activewear following a globally commission survey of 1,000 women.

According to a Modibodi spokesperson, the global report involved a range of participants from Australia, New Zealand, USA, UK, and Europe.

“The goal of the survey was to gain insight into how the culture around periods, and lack of innovation in period apparel, is holding girls back from participating in sports,” they said.

According to Modibodi, the staple finding in the report found that one in two girls quit sport due to periods, while 75% experienced anxiety or a lack of concentration when participating in physical exercise while on their period due to fear of leakage.

The new range aims to battle these issues.

“The PUMA x Modibodi Active Range is designed to destigmatize leaks in sport and features absorbent underwear and activewear,” the spokesperson continued.

“This release includes the Recycled Active Cycle Short and Recycled Active Legging, designed to be worn without the need for disposable period products or underwear.

“Our latest product launch features a super soft, fast-drying power mesh interior, whilst the absorbent gusset is made with Merino wool to help control odour.

“The collection leads the way in recycled fabrics, with the leggings and cycle shorts featuring both Recycled Nylon and Recycled Mesh.”

Both style of activewear are available in two colours, aubergine and black.

It is the second instalment from the PUMA x Modibodi powerhouse collaboration, after the brand’s launched their first, sold out, period and leak-proof range in May this year.

According to Modibodi and Puma, these moderate to heavy styles can hold 2-3 tampons.

The Modibodi x Puma collaboration is expected to continue into 2023 with the launch of future ranges.

More recently, Modibodi will be launching a new swim offering for adults and teens next month. It will also expand its Men’s and Ultra ranges.
