Mitch Dowd has launched an ECO range that is 100% certified carbon neutral by the Carbon Reduction Institute, as the brand races towards carbon neutral operations by 2023.
Consisting of eight styles of mens trunk underwear and six styles of mens socks, the ECO range, made from recycled cotton or recycled Repreve® polyester.
With a goal for the whole Mitch Dowd brand and offices to be entirely carbon neutral by 2023, Mitch Dowd is currently in the process of reviewing all aspects of its design, production, distribution and internal office practices to identify how it can create a sustainable blueprint.
For its ECO range, Mitch Dowd has chosen swing tickets entirely made from recycled card which are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and its TIC hangers are all recycled.
Some 12 years ago, the brand first launched a carbon neutral range, GREEN, in 2008 that offset emissions by the planting of trees in Australia. For this second range, emissions will be offset through wind farms in China and biofuel plants in India.
Founder Mitch Dowd said he is thrilled to be working on environmentally friendly projects.
"As an artist who works in the environment, the health of our planet is paramount to me.
"I live in a rammed earth house with a solar battery system, as well as a treatment system for all water from the house.
"My studio is a straw bale building, on an environmentally protected piece of land.
"It's always my hope to keep my personal beliefs and life in line with the business’ beliefs. The ECO range goes a long way in doing that and will reach that goal in 2023 when the entire Mitch Dowd product range and offices become carbon neutral."
Mitch Dowd’s ECO range is now available in Myer, David Jones, Farmers NZ, Harris Scarfe and as well as via https://mitchdowd.com.au/ with trunk underwear from $24.95 and socks from $14.95.
