Global eyewear retailer Specsavers has collaborated again with Mimco to launch an updated range, nearly two years on from their initial pair-up range.
The new range will launch exclusively across Specsavers’ 380 stores in Australia and online.
After launching the first Mimco Eyewear collection with Specsavers in 2023, the new range features four new optical frames and three new sunglass styles. The entire range will include 13 optical and seven sun frames.
Specsavers head of frames Nelly Soleil said the updated range was a collaborative journey.
“Working so closely with Mimco to create the new collection meant we were able to incorporate a range of unexpected and intricate design elements into the final frames that we know our customers love,” Soleil said. “A particular favourite is the subtle nod to the ‘i’ that features in the Mimco logo, which we placed sideways on front of the frames.”
Mimco was initially launched in Melbourne in 1996 and has since grown to 50 stores across Australia, 35 concessions at David Jones and 17 spaces at Myer according to its website.
Mimco is managed under Country Road Group, which is housed under Woolworths Holdings Limited (South Africa).
“At Mimco we believe in the power of an accessory and so the expansion into eyewear made perfect sense,” head of design Lisa Tyler said. “Eyewear can elevate your personal style and who better to collaborate with than the experts at Specsavers.
“It has been a great collaborative journey, fusing the Mimco brand DNA with the knowledge of the Specsavers team around eyewear trends and styles to create a range that we know our Mimco customers will love.”
The frames are also partially crafted from bio-based acetate called Acetate Renew, which Specsavers and Mimco claim is more environmentally friendly than traditional or standard bio-based acetate.
Prices for the new range start at $199 for two pairs, single vision.
