New Zealand-born jeweller Michael Hill International has appointed Andrea Slingsby as alternate director to Sir Michael Hill, as the group’s founder takes a leave of absence to undergo treatment for cancer.
The company shared the news in an ASX statement on Monday afternoon.
Slingsby has extensive board governance, consulting and advisory experience across a range of industry sectors including global retail.
According to the Michael Hill board, she brings expertise in both domestic and international growth and sustainable scaling of Australian brands such as Flight Centre and Blackmores.
Her previous executive roles with the company include interim chief people officer from August 2018 to December 2018 and chief operating officer from January 2019 to January 2021.
Slingsby is currently a director of Prime Financial Group (ASX: PFG).
She entered into a consultancy agreement with the company, which includes remuneration of $9,233 per month.
The latest move follows the recent passing of Daniel Bracken, who had been CEO of the jewellery group since 2018.
