Australian fashion and lifestyle brand Matteau has been offered to design an exclusive six-piece capsule collection of resort wear for Byron Bay hotel Raes on Wategos, to mark the travel spot’s 30th birthday.
This will be followed by the unveiling of Matteau’s flagship store within The Bonobo by Raes, a new luxury lifestyle precinct opening in Byron Bay in 2025, along with a Matteau designed uniform to be introduced across the Raes brand.
“We’re thrilled to unveil our partnership with Matteau, kicking off with the launch of our exclusive capsule collection this October,” Raes on Wategos general manager Marty McCaig said.
“As a fellow Australian brand dedicated to timeless design and considered luxury, joining forces with Matteau to bring this collection to life felt like the perfect alignment of our shared values and vision.”
The new collection includes a short sleeve shirt, easy pull-on shorts and drawstring pants, as well as a sarong and scarf on cotton silk voile. The collection covers four core Matteau silhouettes - all made in Australia.
“Looking through the Matteau print archive, we saw an instant connection between our much-loved Talavera print and the iconic entrance tiles at Raes on Wategos,” Matteau co-founder and director Peta Heinsen said.
“The collection is very much inspired by the coastal lifestyle of Raes.”
Co-founder and creative director Ilona Hamer said the collection also comes in time for the summer season.
“I love that the heat forces one to pare back and dress more simply - I'm a firm believer that less is often more. In the summer, my go-to pieces are typically our shirts, silk pants and a pair of sandals.”
The Raes x Matteau capsule collection is currently being sold via Raes’ website and is also sold on-site at reception and via the in-room wardrobe.
