Love Island Australia Season 2 winners turned TikTok creators Anna McEvoy and Josh Packham - who have a combined TikTok following of 79.1k - reveal how their relationship helps them create content on TikTok.
Which content performs best for you? Why do you think this is?
JOSH: Voice overs work best as they are engaging and funny. This type of content works best with Anna involved as well.
ANNA: Movie content always seems to do well as well as things with my boyfriend.
What is your best performing video?
ANNA: I had one video get to over 700K views and another get over 600K views. This is because Josh and I won Love Island together - so that content always does well.
JOSH: My best performing video was a voiceover with Anna which got 165k views. This was successful because it was a well performing original sound which increases engagement.
Where are your audience located?
ANNA: 77% are Australian while the rest of my audience comes from the UK, New Zealand and USA.
Which fashion brands have you worked with?
ANNA: [Recently] I worked with Maybelline who gave me a lot of creative control.
What are some dos and don'ts for the platform?
JOSH: TikTok has a younger audience, therefore I don't look to provide any explicit content. Instead I keep the content G-rated in order to not upset any potential viewers.
ANNA: Being authentic is a massive one!
Always have fun with what you are creating and not taking yourself too seriously.
I think it’s also important to be aware of the many users and try not to be offensive in any way.
What is your advice to brands when they want to work with TikTok content creators?
ANNA: I’d say, make it authentic and give over some creative control so the content represents both the brand and creator.
JOSH: Allow the content creators flexibility in how they would promote the brand whilst providing some original ideas to go off.
Are there any particular posting times that generate better engagement?
JOSH: I feel around 5/6pm are the best time to upload once kids have finished school and are at home engaging with the app.
ANNA: Around 6pm always seems to be a good posting time for me.
