Australian activewear brand Lorna Jane has signed on a new initiative to help women who are re-entering the workforce following a career break.
The brand has partnered with Encoreship, a program founded by skincare retailer Alpha-H, with founder Lorna Jane Clarkson confirming the first role it is advertising for this year is a talent specialist, who will sit within the people team.
The role is currently being advertised on the Lorna Jane careers page as of Friday last week, with the aim to have the candidate in the role by early August.
“Filling the position with an ‘Encorer’, we will provide support to our team whilst the current talent lead takes parental leave,” Clarkson said. “The roles will change each year, giving potential Encorers an exciting opportunity to contribute their experience to every part of our business.”
Clarkson added that any available role can be included in future iterations.
The Encoreship was launched in 2021 and has so far seen 20 women re-enter the workforce across various industries.
The 2024 Encoreship roles are available to anyone who identifies as a woman, is an Australian resident, has spent at least one year away from the workforce and is having difficulty re-entering, or is looking to pivot their career.
“As a female-founded business comprised of 70% of employees who identify as women, we saw an opportunity to extend ourselves into the community, offering paid work placements and creating a network of women supporting women,” Alpha-H CCO Tina Randello said.
“Our goal is to create workplaces where it is the norm that businesses make space for women to re-enter."
