Kmart has teamed up with Real Living and Home Beautiful editor Elle Lovelock and the Reach Foundation to transform a school in need in New South Wales.

On a mission to support young people – given that more than 70% of its team are under 21 – Kmart has raised more than $1 million for organisations that support young Aussies over the past five years.

Now its partnership with The Reach Foundation will see Kmart give the school a surprise makeover, giving the students a space to thrive and be their best selves.

Kmart community relations advisor Frankie Swithinbank said the business was proud to bring this initiative to life.

"The care and support for young Australians is always top of our minds.

"HelpMeKmart is our opportunity to support communities, making an impact on a really local level with our partners to make everyday living brighter.

"We've teamed up with Reach and Elle Lovelock who have collaborated with us in our new home living range, to give back and refresh a local school.

"We really hope this positive makeover gives them somewhere extra special to learn and be the very best versions of themselves," she said.

The school receiving the makeover is one that aims to create a safe space for students who have been unable to fit into mainstream education.

Reach Foundation facilitator Alex Turner added that she was thrilled to see the school receive this opportunity.

"We are so excited for this school to have an opportunity for a refresh and I cannot wait to see the looks on the faces of the young people," she said.

Reach Foundation run group workshops to develop the social and emotional wellbeing of young people.

The organisation delivers its workshops to 40,000 young Australians each year.

The school's makeover will be undertaken in March.
