Karen Millen Australia has appointed Deloitte partners Richard Hughes, Tim Norman and Michael Billingsley as administrators effective September 04.
The announcement comes a month after the British arm of the Karen Millen business went into administration.
Deloitte Australia is conducting a controlled wind down of the company’s seven independent stores and eight concessions housed in David Jones and Myer.
In 2018 Karen Millen Australia turned over approximately $19 million and has approximately 80 employees with many of them casuals.
Deloitte administrator Tim Norman said that the store closures would begin in the coming weeks.
"With the UK business now sold and the label withdrawing from Australia, we expect to wind down the business here and progressively close all stores in the coming weeks.
"If quick, shoppers can expect some bargains with discounted stock being sold from stores and online until the end of this month," he said.
The Australian stand-alone Karen Millen stores are located in Victoria (DFO South Wharf, Emporium, Chadstone, Doncaster), NSW (QVB, Chatswood Chase), and SA (Burnside Village).
The concession store locations are in David Jones (Syd CBD, Mel CBD), and Myer (Syd CBD, Bondi, Bris CBD, Mel CBD, Chadstone, Perth).
Customers holding gift cards or who are members of loyalty programs will have their benefits honoured but Deloitte is advising those consumers to refer to the Customer FAQ section of the Karen Millen website for further details.
