Hugo Boss has expanded its eCommerce offering to 22 additional countries, including Australia.

The business' digital offering has previously only been available to customers in 15 countries including the US, the UK, Germany, France and China.

But, in light of the rapid upswing in eCommerce during the pandemic, Hugo Boss said that the digital pillar has proven to be one of the most important elements of the company's strategy.

Hugo Boss chairman of the managing board Mark Langer said that the business is quickly rolling out the digital store to additional countries to meet increased demand.

"The importance of digital distribution channels for the global apparel industry is growing rapidly.

"The coronavirus crisis has further accelerated this trend.

"We are therefore rolling out our online store in additional countries as quickly as possible and are thus systematically pushing ahead with the digitisation of our business model," he said.

The news comes as Hugo Boss SEAPAC MD, Matthew Keighran told Ragtrader that the business is focusing on its store network and what will be necessary once the pandemic has subsided.

"As far as the key growth areas and emerging trends, we see of course that the rise and rise of eCommerce has even jumped a couple of steps further or progressed in a much quicker way than we initially thought.

"What is necessary in a post COVID-19 world?

"At this point in time, I'm sure you can imagine, there's lots of negotiations going on with landlords, and then we're having a very hard look at how many stores are actually necessary in this new world.

"I think it's consolidating the retail network. It's picking up the pace with the eCommerce aspects of the business, and a further area would be really around the customisation of our approach to our customers," he said.

Customers from Australia can now browse the latest Boss collections and order them from home and pay using local payment methods.

All orders placed on the Hugo Boss digital store are shipped from the business' distribution centre in Germany, with orders expected to take five to six days to arrive.

Shipping costs $35 and the threshold for free delivery is $500.

The site is equipped with a 'Fit Finder' and more traditional size chart, as well as comprehensive style guide information and inspiration content.

In the coming months, Hugo Boss will launch digital stores in Canada, Mexico and India, making a total of 25 countries rolled out in 2020 and an overall online presence encompassing 40 countries.

In addition, to its digital rollout, Hugo Boss has also strengthened digital partnerships by expanding its online concession model.

In the coming years, the business will focus on expanding the concession model in the APAC and Europe regions.
