Global sportswear brand Hoka has added Sydney to its global tour of a one-day running activation, launching on September 23.
It follows recent activations of the event in New York, London, Taipei, Jakarta and Bangkok.
The announcement comes as the brand prepares to open its first Australian flagship in Bondi Junction on November 2. Currently, the brand is sold through stockists such as The Athlete’s Foot among smaller boutiques, and on marketplace Kogan.com.
In Australia, Hoka is managed under license by Accent Group.
The Hoka Fly Run in Sydney is a free registration running event with 13 races planned for the day (6.5k/5k).
It also offers various free masterclasses taking place at Bennelong Lawn behind the Opera House, with hosts including Hoka athletes Craig Alexander and Owain Matthews, author and athlete Turia Pitt, and Sydney-based organisation 440 Run Club.
The masterclasses will be hosted within a giant replica Hoka shoe box, with interactive shoe trialling and giveaways.
The event is part of a larger brand campaign called ‘Fly Human Fly’. The campaign was launched in June, featuring a one minute short film titled murmuration.
Hoka was born in France in 2009 and has since scaled into a global entity. According to its parent company Deckers Brands, Hoka recorded a 27.4% lift in global sales to US$420.5 million for the first quarter of FY24 to June 30 (FY = April to March).
As well as Hoka - its largest brand by revenue - Deckers also owns and operates Ugg, Teva, Sanuk and Koolaburra.
Deckers Brands products are sold in more than 50 countries and territories through select department and specialty stores, company-owned and operated retail stores, and select online stores, including company-owned websites.
