Global department store retailer Heinemann has opened its first domestic airport terminal store concept in Sydney Airport’s T2 and T3 terminals.
The concept spans over 2,270 square metres across Sydney Airport's domestic terminal, and will stock retail goods including fashion, accessories, watches, jewellery, beauty, confectionery and alcohol.
Newly included fashion brands joining Heinemann’s Sydney domestic terminal assortment include P.E Nation, Rebecca Vallance, Nobody Denim, Status Anxiety and Alemais.
Australian luxury resortwear brand Camilla will also be available in domestic, which launched in Heinemann’s Sydney International Airport store earlier this year.
The retailer’s beauty assortment involves over 65 brands, which also includes edible beauty brands and luxury fragrances.
Both terminals’ stores are connected by a ‘coastal journey’ design concept. Terminal 2 will cover 1,765 square metres, while Terminal 3 will be 506.34 square metres. The larger store in Terminal 2 also features an engagement zone in the middle of the space which creates a stage for pop-ups.
Heinemann will progressively introduce more brands, retail concepts and services ahead of its domestic airport stores’ grand opening slated for the first quarter of 2024.
“Sydney Airport's domestic terminals are the busiest in Australia and we are extremely excited to showcase the best of both national and international brands to a wider traveler base,” Heinemann Australia MD George Tsoukalas said.
"We are proud to continue partnering with Sydney Airport on delivering exciting and unforgettable shopping experiences, now across all three terminals. We will constantly curate our offer and services to meet the changing needs of our customers.”
Heinemann has been operating in Sydney Airport since 2015, after it won the nearly 10,000 sqm master duty-free concession in T1 international terminal.
Its duty-free concession contract was renewed in 2019 for an additional ten years. T1 now offers a new luxury beauty, fashion and accessories store at Sydney Airport
The opening of the new domestic stores comes as Sydney Airport domestic passenger numbers hit 86% of 2019 levels, with nearly 2.2 million passengers passing through both T2 and T3 terminals.
“The new Heinemann stores, an Australia-first concept, is an integral part of our ongoing efforts to create a world-class passenger experience for our domestic travellers,” Sydney Airport executive GM for commercial Mark Zaouk said.
“We are delighted to be able to extend our partnership with Heinemann across all three of our terminals and continuously elevate our retail offer for passengers.”
