Louis Vuitton has opened its first travel retail store in the Southern Hemisphere, located in the new luxury precinct at Sydney International Airport.

Louis Vuitton joins 13 other luxury brands including Saint Laurent, Dior, Bottega Veneta, Prada, Balenciaga, Cartier and Valentino.

The new store is Sydney Airport’s largest stand-alone luxury site.

It offers women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, shoes, leather goods, along with accessories, watches, jewellery and fragrances.

The store features an architectural concept first implemented by Peter Marino in Ginza Namiki Dori, Tokyo, Japan. The design uses light woods and bright colours, along with a facade featuring a kinetic blade concept matched with two custom show windows.

The interior decor also includes locally crafted pieces by Australian-based designers.

Yarrabee by George Hall, a multimedia artist based in Sydney, is located in the men’s leather goods area. In the women’s lifestyle area, a bright triptych by Melbourne artist Daniel O’Toole is linked to the façade design.

Pieces by Sydney designer Tom Fereday are also featured in the store.

International items include a table by the Chinese brand Buzao, chairs from Stellar Works and a pair of Steiner’s 740 armchairs, re-upholstered with a graphic pattern.

According to Sydney Airport, the roof of the new luxury precinct was elevated by almost 10 metres this year.
