Canadian shoe designer John Fluevog will open his second boutique in Australia in The Rocks, Sydney.
It joins Fluevog’s original boutique opened in Melbourne four years ago.
Fluevog chief marketing officer Stephen Bailey said the new boutique has been in the works for some time.
“We’re very excited to take over this prestigious location in The Rocks,” Bailey said. “It will allow the unique souls of Sydney to browse and buy the complete range of John’s unique soles in their own city.
“With more than 25 stores around the globe, it’s only fitting we are bringing John’s inimitable designs to the Harbour City.”
The store takes over a heritage-listed building located at 123 George Street, first built in 1880 as a shop and residence.
It incorporates Victorian architecture with original ceilings, windows and timber flooring.
Bailey said the timing of the store opening is key as The Rocks undergoes a cultural regeneration with new restaurants, bars, distillers, public art and outdoor dining zones all buoying foot traffic.
“It’s the perfect time for Fluevog to be opening our new store there,” Bailey said. “This outlet is very different from most of our other boutiques, but shoppers should be inspired by the way we’ve managed to blend the heritage features of the building with Fluevog’s signature modern style.”
Fluevog has been selling footwear and accessories since 1970.
