The world’s first fashion sourcing platform has launched in Australia and New Zealand ahead of Christmas, two years after its initial launch in the United Kingdom and Europe in 2022.

Called Sourcewhere, the online marketplace is designed to seek rare and highly coveted luxury items for shoppers through a global network of sourcers.

Recent sourcing success stories include securing a pair of The Row Spring Summer 2024 Mara flats in just 15 minutes and uncovering a rare Fall Winter 1999 Hermès jacket after an 18-month search.

According to founder and CEO Erica Wright, there’s a growing demand for a more tailored and efficient approach to luxury shopping, with sourcing leading this evolution.

Since launching in 2022, Wright said the platform has experienced rapid growth. It’s network of sourcing experts has reportedly tripled, and the volume of both requests and successful matches “has grown significantly year-on-year as customers increasingly seek rare and highly coveted luxury items from current and past seasons.”

“Whether through one-off purchases or recurring requests, we see this reflect a fundamental shift in the luxury shopping experience, with consumers now prioritising convenience, personalisation, and high-quality service over simply sifting through an overabundance of product,” Wright said.

“While customers have more options than ever, they still struggle to find exactly what they’re looking for—this is where sourcing offers not just a hyper-personalised approach to luxury retail, but a streamlined and focused way to connect customers with the items they truly want.”

Speaking on the launch in Australia and New Zealand, Wright said the region has been a key part of its strategy of global expansion.

“These markets have always been home to consumers who value luxury deeply and approach it with thoughtfulness and consideration, so there’s a natural alignment between their tastes and the growing demand for personalised sourcing services.

“Luxury retail often lacks consistency, and this is a challenge we see worldwide—shoppers may enter a boutique only to find that a specific style isn’t available or face long queues only to discover their size is out of stock.

“Similarly, spending hours navigating search results or calling stores can be tedious and unproductive.

“Sourcewhere changes this dynamic.”

Wright added that Sourcewhere also allows customers to request highly sought-after items that might otherwise be difficult to secure through traditional shopping channels.

“We’re constantly innovating and looking ahead to the next phase of growth,” she said. “We’re working on several exclusive partnerships with world-class collectors and brands, which will further expand our unique product offerings for clients in Australia and New Zealand to access.”
