Australian media publication Fashion Journal is making a return to print, with its first edition hitting the streets of Melbourne and Sydney from October 14.

The reboot of its print will be distributed quarterly, and comes four years since ending its print runs in February 2020.

The print copies will continue to be free to the public.

Owned by Melbourne-based Furst Media, Fashion Journal has been sharing its editorial since 1991, and also operates an online website.

The consumer publication covers areas of fashion, beauty, music, life and health.

“The time’s right for us to bring FJ back to print,” Furst Media managing director says Kris Furst said.

“What started as a pandemic-induced print hiatus eventuated in FJ establishing itself as the digital force it is today. But there’s no doubt print’s having a moment, and the Fashion Journal we’re relaunching this October is really going to dazzle.

“We don’t believe there’s ever been a fashion mag this premium that’s been free to the consumer, and we can’t wait to see FJ back out there in the salons, boutiques and cafes of Melbourne and Sydney.”

All contributors to the print magazine – whether behind the scenes or within the pages – include editors, photographers, stylists, writers, designers and models, with content focusing on early-career creatives.

“Fashion Journal has a long and vibrant history in print, spanning over 30 years,” Fashion Journal managing editor Giulia Brugliera said. “It’s always been a launchpad for creatives in the Australian fashion industry and I’m really proud that this next iteration of FJ will honour that legacy.”

The publication will be distributed to hundreds of venues across Melbourne and Sydney, including clothing boutiques and flagships; curated consignment and vintage stores; hair salons; beauty, skin and nail salons; wellness hubs; as well as select cafes, bars and hospitality venues.
