Australian outerwear brand Driza-Bone teamed up with Mack Trucks Australia and NRL star Johnathan Thurston this weekend, for a one-off road trip from Queensland’s south-east to the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo event.
Thurston arrived at the event in a blacked-out, 685 horsepower Mack Super-Liner truck, after travelling northwest from Brisbane through rural communities.
Thurston said he was proud to be involved in the event, which helped to connect Driza-Bone and Mack to their Queensland customers.
"I had an amazing couple of days with my first Mount Isa rodeo experience and equally loved meeting so many locals, thanks to Driza-Bone and Mack Trucks," he said.
"What a great Aussie experience arriving at the outback rodeo, in a Mack Super-Liner, head-to-toe in my Driza-Bone kit.
"It’s been really enjoyable.
"It’s an honour to be a part of a collaboration between two legendary Australian brands.
"They both have such a strong presence in Queensland communities through their products and manufacturing plants, which is great," he said.
Thurston fans can purchase a Driza-Bone x Mack outfit on the Driza-Bone website, including shirts and jackets.
Driza-Bone creative director Justin O’Shea said the brand was thrilled to join forces with Mack and Thurston.
"While our brands are vastly different, they are rich in Australian history and our respective products are built for surviving everything Australia’s big backyard can throw at you be it the outback, hinterland or bush.
"When the opportunity presented to work together at one of Queensland’s biggest culture and community events in the Mount Isa Rodeo, we jumped at the chance to connect with locals and give something back.
"Johnathan embodies what our two brands represent so it has worked out perfectly that he could be in Mount Isa," he said.
Mack Trucks Australia VP Tom Chapman, who joined Thurston at the event, added that the event allowed the brands to connect with their customer base.
"Mack Trucks are proudly built in Australia and are engineered and designed to meet the harsh Australian conditions.
"Driza-Bone share this mission and we have come together to Mount Isa this weekend for exactly that - to connect and give back to our customers.
"What a sight it was with Johnathan rolling into one of the most iconic outback events in a Mack Black Super-Liner, wearing his Driza-Bone gear and adding another layer of enjoyment to the day," he said.
The Driza-Bone x Mack pieces are available now and retail for between $129 to $449.
