International footwear label Dr. Martens has put plans in motion for greater local expansion, announcing the launch of its first stand-alone Australian store.

The store will be located at Westfield Shopping Centre in Pitt Street Mall, Sydney. The store opening will also coincide with the launch of the brand's online Australian store.

As part of the opening celebrations, Australian artist Maddy Young will be on site customising shoes on-the-spot.

The Dr. Martens store and website will offer the largest range of men’s, women’s and kids’ styles available in Australia including Originals, Made in England, DM’s Lites, collaborations, vegan and accessories collections.

Dr. Martens Australia marketing manager David Dullens said the first local store will give the brand a greater presence in the local market and provide stronger growth opportunities.

“Dr. Martens creates distinctive footwear built and adopted by generations of rebellious individuals not afraid to stand out from the crowd.

"We’ve come a long way from modest work-wear boot to one of the most culturally relevant brands of the modern era.

"The expansion into the Australian retail landscape means we can continue to speak to our consumers, through a pinnacle expression of the Dr. Martens brand, for years to come.”

The Pitt Street and online store both launch March 1, 2018.
