Discount department store Target has secured the lingerie line designed by burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese as an exclusive.
As reported by ragtrader.com.au earlier this year, the dancer has been working with Australian brand development company Lime Door on a range of projects.
Vintage inspired underwear sets, corsets, garter belts and high-waited briefs all form the Target range, which will be available online and in-store from February, 2012.
The international style icon, who admits having a long-time fascination with the 1950s era overwire bras, said it was important to her to offer lingerie in a large range of sizes.
“There are so many vintage lingerie pieces I love that I haven't been able to find in all my years of collecting,” Von Teese said. “I wanted to design pieces that are tributes to my vintage obsessions, to make them beautiful and functional, while modernising them for everyday wear.”
There will be 10 collections that range from black lingerie sets that Von Teese feels every woman should own, to bold luxurious reds, nudes with black lace overlay, vintage-inspired pale shades of satin and animal print.
Bras and briefs will range from $17 with exquisite bustiers and fitted corsolettes ranging from $79.
With selected bra styles available up to an E-cup and briefs up to size 20, the Von Follies by Dita Von Teese collection aims to bring a touch of sophistication and glamour to Australian women of all shapes and sizes.
The launch range combines distinct touches such as grosgrain and velvet ribbons, delicate eyelash lace and control mesh to give the essence of the sultry 1950s glamour girl.
Target Australia completed customer research across two phases in 2010 and 2011 to determine awareness and sentiment on the Von Teese collaboration. The results were positive with the majority of customers viewing Von Teese as a classic, feminine, well presented and confident woman.
New product lines will then be introduced in March and April next year.
